Not much to report , all the teams are doing small works , a typical example we have just draught proofed a pair of sash windows today. A bit of a pain really , they have had new sashes made with double glazing units , and they are too big for the sashes so we could not get any sash catches to fit as the timber section left was only 12mm so we had to adapt the catches to work.
Anyway it all turned out well in the end and another warm customer

St Anslems College
Kensingtons spent three hours today doing a full window survey of the college building called Outwood House. I have got to say we survey and work in many impressive buildings but this one has got to be near the top of the list . The building is tired and is going to get a complete refurbishment , but the original architecture and fittings are of such high quality . We will keep you informed if we get this one and perhaps we can then fill you in with some of its history.
Do you think he is scratching his head thinking how the hell am i going to lift that sash up lol .

The old rectory in Chester , Cheshire
Second day at the old rectory in Chester probably about six to eight weeks on this one as we have lots to do.
All the sash windows need draught proofing and major rot repairs , as well as paint stripping.
The casements also want rot repairs and draught proofing. The large Georgian canopy over the front door is in a poor state and we are having to reproduce the cutters to make new profiles for the repair works .
Also as you can see the bay above the front door is in a major need of reconstruction , we will have to remove this window and remake it completely only saving the original sashes.
.
What a fantastic Georgian front entrance shell canopy , this is one of the most ornate ones we have come across , but it is in need of some major restoration work as the gutters have been leaking for quite some time . We are looking forward to this one as we love a challenge. The canopy has about ten different moulded sections, so we needed to have custom made eight sets of cutters to exactly match the original profiles.

New project in Chester
Kensingtons have now been given the go ahead to start work on a grade ll listed Georgian rectory in Chester, after working closely with the client it was decided to draught proof and repair a sample sash window for appraisal by the local authority conservation officer.
The window has now been fully approved and we have been on site today to take samples of all the mouldings that are required and we will be making these in our joinery workshop from custom made cutters.
As well as the sash windows we have a large selection of casement windows to fully restore, some external doors and a large very ornate shell canopy above the front entrance.
